Pittsburgh Steps

The Pittsburgh Steps are a forgotten part of the city's infrastructure, now fallen into disrepair. The steps are a vital part of the city's identity, especially when considering the city's steep slopes. This studio's intention was to explore how we can raise awareness and interest in keeping, maintaining, and celebrating these steps. The culmination of this studio was an exhibition, where we created takeaway items to engage the community and increase awareness. Beyond this studio, this work was continued to a Pittsburgh Steps Symposium, hosted by the Garden Club of Allegheny County at the Frick Park Environmental Center, in the fall of 2022.
